Shar – President and Designer
Shar Mackey has designed for some of America’s most well recognized brands lending her signature designs becoming her seal of authenticity, quality, and craftsmanship through fine metal hardware design, and luxury fabrics. Currently, Shar is working on the design and development of her capsule collection. Her signature luxury line of handbags, jewelry and small leather goods is set to launch this year.
Shar has a keen eye for combining beautiful forms with functionality. She possesses the expertise to recognize a 2D idea and be able to visualize it in 3D.
Shar’s most recent works were to refocus the design collection for Malibu-based international luxury handbag and jewelry brand CC SKYE. Before moving to California, Shar worked in New York for Jones Apparel Group, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Since founding her own creative consultancy agency, Geoni Studios, Shar Mackey has produced, designed, and directed special collections for Oscar de La Renta, Treesje, Rough Roses, and Baby Phat. Utilizing her specialties in handbags, custom hardware and costume jewelry, Shar was able to bring her signature design aesthetic to each of these brands while still maintaining their brand image and authenticity. Shar Mackey got her start into the world of design in the early 2000s at Knoll, Inc., in New York under the guidance of the creative director, Karen Stone. She designed their holiday window displays for their Soho storefront.
After studying at the prestigious Pratt Institute, Shar designed and fabricated her own Rotaria chair, which was later on exhibition at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. The chair was drafted from dress pattern paper, which led to Shar Mackey embracing her passion for draping and pattern making and a career in the world of fashion.
